The Amalfi Coast… a Viking in the land of the Saracens…
Escape to one of the most stunning hidden places on earth. The Amalfi Coast homes this quaint, picturesque bay full of natural beauty and the feel of traditional Italy.
Situated between the towns of Praiano and Furore, ‘Alfonso a Mare’ sits at the foot of the high running road ‘La Praia.’ Become immersed in the magnificence of this bay as you descend into this pleasant nook, leading to the breath taking views that this hotel and bay have to offer.
The cliffs provide a frame to the idyllic picture of the seemingly endless ocean, with surrounding sights of a small number of houses nestled in the rocks. This bay grants a sun trap by day and a magical ambience by night.
Not only a hotel, ‘Alfonso a Mare’ provides a bar and restaurant, of which the porch leads on to the splendidly secluded beach. Upon this beach rests fishing boats, in which fresh fish is caught for those visiting. With more than half a century of activity and historical presence here on earth, traditionally fishermen find themselves in the evening in the cool of the porch. Skilled chefs prepare and cook a wide variety of caught fish, from sea bream to yellow tail, to ensure all who dine here experience the true, fresh taste of the sea.
Beginning in the hands of Don Alfonso, ‘Alfonso a Mare’ is a cosy family-run hotel, offering a warm welcome to now join son Luca, his wife Ada and their children, to whom this hotel has been passed on to. From here the story of this treasured corner of earth continues.
